A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there.

I didn’t fully grasp the power of travel until my 30’s.

Growing up, soccer took me around the U.S. via tournaments and camps, while my favorite bands beckoned me to arenas across the nation starting in high school. In college, a short summer program in Rome followed by solo travel to Switzerland, Germany, and France opened my eyes to the excitement of new destinations, languages, and cultures. Throughout my 20’s, a career in professional sports meant limited vacation time - typically one brief trip per year, and usually to the Caribbean. It wasn’t until a job change and a death in the family that I finally decided to take that first “bucket list” trip at the age of 33. That experience was when I started to truly believe in my now-favorite cliché…everything happens for a reason.

Australia changed me in a lot of ways, but in the simplest terms, it ignited a fire within me to travel far and often. I suddenly wanted to go everywhere, to experience places and things I had never previously considered. I had a new focus, and for the first time in a long time, it didn’t revolve around a team or a band; instead, my energy was funneled into researching where I would travel next. One year after Australia, I headed to South Africa for my subsequent “once in a lifetime” trip - and I was officially hooked.

While planning my third bucket list trip in three years - this time to South America - I happened upon a job opening for a local company that focused on luxury travel to the South Pacific and Africa. The stars seemed to have aligned for me, and in a matter of months, a new career was born. Being able to combine my passion for travel with a love of people and planning? How could I NOT be a luxury travel designer?!

The experiences I’ve had since 2016 were ones I never even dreamt were feasible as part of a career. I’ve flown in helicopters in New Zealand, South Africa, and Tanzania, hiked on a glacier and a volcano, hand-fed kangaroos and cuddled wombats, bush-walked with elephants and giraffes, and added 22 new stamps to my passport. I’ve also met some of the most inspiring and interesting people through this amazing industry - including my now-husband Dave, who I met during a sales call!

My latest career adventure began in late 2020 when I joined Travel Edge as an Independent Contractor. This partnership means I now have access to the exclusive benefits and experiences that only a Virtuoso Member agency of this caliber can offer. It also means I can help my clients with any type of travel, anywhere in the world! If you’re looking for travel inspiration or want to discuss travel options for you and your loved ones, feel free to send me an email - I look forward to helping you plan your next adventure!
